Furbish Company designs, furnishes, installs and maintains Naturaire© biofilters, developed by Air Quality Solutions in Guelph, Ontario. These biofilters replace high-tech, energy consumptive air filtration systems with living walls that harness the natural phytoremediation capabilities of tropical houseplants to effectively remove common airborne pollutants.

--------------------

The traditional supply of good quality outside air to the indoors frequently requires heating or cooling of this air to meet the needs of the occupants. The conditioning of this airflow represents 10-20% of the total building's energy usage under normal operating conditions.

Supplying an adequate indoor temperature is the single most energy intensive process in the building. As a consequence, many buildings may not be delivering enough outside air to the occupants. This can lead to a decrease in the air quality and the well-being of the occupants. Biofiltration of the air circulating within the building is an alternative means of refreshing the indoor air without having to bring new expensive outside air into the building, leading to substantial energy savings without sacrificing air quality.
